KooseKort is a fun, fast-moving card game that has its roots in the classic card games of Golf and Rummy. It's great for friends and family, easy to learn and play, and suitable for ages 7 and up. Players are dealt fifteen cards and the goal is to have the lowest score at the end of four rounds.
One of the best things about the game is that it's about 60% luck and 40% strategy/skill, so even if you have a bad hand, things can turn around quickly if you play your cards right.

In Oct. 2020, we purchased a small inn that dates back to 1830 and have learned that inns are way more fun to stay in than to own! So, the idea of being game developers and switching gears excites us. If anyone is in the market for an inn, let us know. :) No, really.

After slipping in a shower on vacation in Sept. 2021, our dear father was severely injured, requiring a feeding tube and oxygen 24/7. Janet, Julie, and Laura took care of him for three years before he sadly passed away in June 2024. KooseKort was developed during this difficult time, as it was something we looked forward to playing when we needed some fun, laughter, and a break from the challenges of caregiving. We would all gather together at the dining room table to play a few rounds. Dad loved the game, too, so we are thankful for the memories we made together.

When we were brainstorming names for our game, we drew from our maternal Norwegian roots and loved the Norwegian word kos (pronounced "koose," like moose) because it means coming together in a cozy setting to have a good time. Then, we added the Norwegian word, kort, which means card. So, kos kort, or "cozy cards." We like that the name KooseKort is unique, making it available to trademark and also something memorable in the wide world of games.
Please reach us at KooseKort.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We will share the instructions when we release the game. We promise it'll be worth the wait. :)
The game is still in the prototype stage, but should be available to purchase through this website, at our office, and on Amazon in February 2025, God willing.
Yes, children who have a good understanding of number sequence and negative numbers (through -2) can easily learn and play this game.
No, the specialty cards are considered additional assets to further your place in the game, but they are not required to be used. There may be rounds of game play when one or all of the cards may not be needed. Conversely, there may be some rounds when you want to use all of your cards. It depends on the 15 cards you are dealt at the beginning of the came and what cards you pick up along the way.
No, not yet, but we hope to develop it sometime soon.
This video describes the Norwegian word, kos (pronounced "koose"), which describes the state of mind that involves having a good time, fellowship, sharing experiences, and being cozy. This is the feeling we have when we play KooseKort and we want everyone to have that feeling as often as possible
