We are two sisters (Julie and Laura), one mother (Janet), and one fiancé (Scott, Laura's hubby-to-be). We are from Florida, but now live in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. In Oct. 2020, we purchased a small inn that dates back to 1830 and have learned that inns are way more fun to stay in than to own! After selling the inn in July 2025, we switched gears and are excited about being game developers.
How KooseKort Was Born
After slipping in a shower on vacation in Sept. 2021, our dear father was severely injured, requiring a feeding tube and oxygen 24/7. Janet, Julie, and Laura took care of him for three years before he sadly passed away in June 2024. KooseKort was developed during this difficult time, as it was something we looked forward to playing when we needed some fun, laughter, and a break from the challenges of caregiving. We would all gather together at the dining room table to play a few rounds. Dad loved the game, too, so we are thankful for the memories we made together.
What would we call our new game company? Coming up with a name, one that's unique, represents who you are, and and something that feels "right" is harder than you'd think! After some good brainstorming, we decided to lean into our closeness as a family and combine family names, Nossal and Carriere, taking the first two letters of each name creating NOCA Games. For the design? We we knew it had to be playful and fun, like we are!
